South Baikal

The southern regions of Lake Baikal are in many ways the most accessible: you can reach the Baikal’ski National Nature Reserve via the Trans-Siberian Railroad.

Baikal’ski National Nature Reserve

The Great Baikal Trail has created a number of routes along the Southern half of Baikal, and within the Reserve, attracting the local residents and tourists to the area. The Selenga River Delta and the nearby wetlands, a large part of south Baikal, can also be accessed in part by these trails, creating a number of outlets for bird watching and wildlife observation.
